Popular locations for fishing are piers and the area is home to plenty of spots, like the Southport City Pier, the Oak Island Pier, Ocean Crest Fishing Pier, and other smaller public fishing docks throughout the island. 78th Street Crab Dock, Malcolm Register Park, Veterans Park, and there’s access points through the island at the end of streets on the Davis Canal and the Intracoastal Waterway. 

Surf fishing is likely one of the most popular ways to fish at Oak Island. The Oak Island Recreation Center offers fishing seminars that take you from the surf sand to the frying pan.

Fishing charters are typically high producing adventures for a fresh catch. Most of the Captains are locals and they intimately know the waterways and are bait ready and full equipped to help you fish successfully.
